Obituary of Joyce E. Joneson

Joyce E. Joneson, 82, of 2906 Bentley Avenue, Jamestown, died Tuesday November 2, 2011, in her home surrounded by her loving family and Rev. Dayle Keefer. She was born January 19, 1929, in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Howard and Lucille Knott Carlson. She was a 1946 graduate of Bemus Point High School. She was employed as office manager of the family business Joneson Construction. She attended Fluvanna Community Church, volunteered for the Fluvanna Library and served as treasurer for Fluvanna Cemetery. She had varied interests including gardening, oil painting, travel, animals, singing, playing organ, crafts and building. She especially loved her family and friends. Surviving are four children Tom (Cindy) Joneson of Kennedy, Lila (Dave) Sherman of Jamestown, Kathy (Denny) Carnahan of Randolph and Joyce (Bob) Anderson of Jamestown; fourteen grandchildren David (Michelle) Sherman, Tom Joneson, Jassen (Kathy) Sherman, Rick (Gina) Chapman, Kris (Rick) Denslow, Amy (Luke) Griffin, Pam (Eric) Meeder, Eric (Kristi) Chapman, Jennifer (Mark) Loomis, Kelly (Brandt) Schmidt, Jean Horton, Eric Morrison, Kevin Hanson and Lauren and Hillary Carnahan; 22 great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter and a sister Mary Lou (Ellis) Norton. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Leonard B. Joneson, whom she married September 8, 1946 and who died December 1, 1998 and a grandson Terry Macomb, Jr. The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. Rev. Dayle F. Keefer will officiate. Burial will be in Fluvanna Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
