Obituary of Rosa J. Sander

Rosa J. Sander, 92, of 418 Colfax St, formerly of 239 State St died at 12:20 a.m. Friday (November 11, 2011) in WCA Hospital. She was born September 26, 1919 in Galizien, Germany, the daughter of Johann and Katerina Zimmerman Gross. Rosa was a U.S. resident since 1952, and a Jamestown resident since 1953. She was an active member of the New Apostolic Church in Jamestown. Her joys were her church, her family, her garden, knitting, and reading. Surviving are a daughter, Hildegard (Wayne) Robinson of Jamestown; two sons, Arthur J. (Carolyn Komula) Sander of New Milford, CT; Richard E. (Marjorie Hunter) Sander of Amherst, NY; eight grandchildren, Elizabeth, Suzanne, Heidi, Rosalyn, Kevin, Stephen, Nicole, and Jessica; 16 great grandchildren; and two great great granddaughters. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Philip Sander whom she married March 6, 1941 in Germany and who died September 20, 2000; two sisters, and five brothers. The funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Friday in the New Apostolic Church, 314 Hall Ave. Jamestown. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home and from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the church.
