Obituary of Roland L. Kemp
Roland L. "Ron" Kemp, 72, of 983 Hunt Road, Lakewood, NY, died at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday (November 23, 2011) in WCA Hospital.
He was born October 24, 1939 in Shinglehouse, PA the son of the late Roland E. and Luella Kemp.
Ron had worked at Hope's Windows for 13 years, and for 21 years at Cummins Engine, retiring in 1999. In earlier years, he was a heavy equipment operator in Florida.
Ron enjoyed being outdoors, doing a lot of walking, using his metal detector to look for old coins and rings. He also liked to dig in old dumps, hoping to find that special vintage bottle for his collection. His favorite times were those spent with his family and grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Betty J. Madison Kemp; three daughters, Sherry K. Kemp of Jamestown; Terry L. Vincent of Ashville, NY; Michele J. Kemp (Marilyn Storms) of Conway, SC; two grandsons, Steven A. Vincent Jr., and Dylan S. Kemp, and both of Jamestown; two sisters, Donna Swarthout of Barker, NY; Sharon Waydelis of Brockport, NY; and a half brother, Randy Kemp of Wellsville, NY.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
