Obituary of Lorraine M. Collins

Lorraine M. Ecklund Collins, 83, of 231 Indiana Ave. Jamestown passed away at 7:25 a.m. Sunday (November 27, 2011) in her home. A lifelong area resident she was born March 22, 1928 in Jamestown, NY a daughter of the late John and Clara Peterson Ecklund. Lorraine was a 1946 graduate of Jamestown High School and was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church. In earlier years she had worked with her father at Eck Tool Company and later at the former Unigard Insurance Company. She had been an active volunteer at the former Jamestown General Hospital and also at the St. Susan's Center. She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother and grandmother who loved to spend time doing crossword puzzles. Surviving are two sons John F. (Cheryl) Collins, Jr., Mark J. Collins both of Jamestown, three grandchildren Kimberly Collins, Taylor Collins both of Pittsburgh, PA, Theo Collins of Fredonia, NY and one great grandchild Juliana Collins of Pittsburgh. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband John F. Collins whom she married June 21, 1947 and who died August 18, 2001, a brother Everett Ecklund and two sisters Phyllis Ecklund and Evelyn Cederquist. The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Adam Miller-Stubbendick, pastor of the Bethel Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
