Obituary of Roger L. "Louie" Hanstrom

Roger L. "Louie" Hanstrom, 84, of 1495 Shadyside Road, Lakewood, died at 2:43 a.m. Monday (November 28, 2011) in WCA Hospital. He was the husband of the late Jeanne Anderson Hanstrom whom he married May 14, 1948 and who died October 10, 2004. A lifelong area resident, Roger "Louie" was born February 13, 1927 in Busti, the son of the late Rudolph and Mabel Boswell Hanstrom. He had been employed by Scalise Brothers Construction for many years, as well as maintaining his own farm in Busti. He was a member of the Laborer's International Union of North America, the AMVETS and the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club. Roger "Louie" enjoyed fishing, especially in Canada, as well as hunting. He was also an avid NASCAR fan. Surviving is his daughter, Deborah (Jerry) Nelson and granddaughter, Melissa (Charlie) Klenke of Busti; a great-granddaughter, Taylor Nelson of Monticello, NY and great-grandson, Nicholas Klenke of Busti; and two step-grandsons, Steven and Gerald R. Nelson. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, William Roger Nelson. The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Mark Parsons will officiate. Burial will be in Busti Cemetery. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home Friday.
