Obituary of Mattia Miele

Mattia Miele, 82, of 301 Lakeview Avenue, went home to be with the Lord, Friday December 2, 2011, in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 13, 1929, in Naples, Italy, a son of the late Antonio and Assunta Sena Miele. Following graduation from high school in Italy he served in the Italian Army from 1950-56. Coming to the United States in 1958, he worked for various manufacturers in the Jamestown area. In 1973 he began a career as a self employed restaurant entrepreneur having owned the Colonial Whip, Aldos, Mattias and Dynasty Restaurants, retiring in 2005. He was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church. He was a family man who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his big heart and kind and generous nature. Surviving are his wife the former Giampiera Cali, whom he married October 21, 1956; three children Grace (Michael) Anderson of Jamestown, Anthony (Mary) Miele of Nashville, TN and Aldo (Laura) Miele of Mayville; seven grandchildren Christopher Champlin of Pensacola, FL, Kristina (Matthew) Clark of Jamestown, Danielle, Alisha and Brianna Miele, all of Nashville and Mathew and Michelle Miele, both of Mayville; three great grandchildren Rina and Jace Champlin and Wesley Clark; a sister Carmella (Frank) Scala of Jamestown; a niece Rosemary (Tim) Stam of Jamestown and a sister and three brothers in Italy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in St. James Catholic Church. Rev. Darrell G. Duffy will be celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home, where a Christian Wake Service will be led at 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Chautauqua County, 20 West Fairmount Avenue, Lakewood, NY 14701.
