Obituary of Steven E. Sprague

Steven E. Sprague, 53, of 3245 Baker St. Ext., died unexpectedly Saturday, December 3, 2011 in his home. He was born in Jamestown on September 25, 1958 and graduated from Mainland Senior High School in Daytona Beach, Fla. In earlier years, he had been employed by Halgirson Electronics in Jamestown and later by Westburgh Electric for many years. A life member of the Falconer Rod & Gun Club, he had also belonged to the Jamestown and later the Celoron Moose, as well as the Chautauqua Lake Fishing Assoc. Steve will be remembered for his kindness, generosity and the way he was always helping people. Surviving is his mother, Johanna (Tim) Holt of Sparta, TN; a sister, Sandra K. (Glenn) Kent of Sparta; three brothers, Randall A. Sprague of West Ellicott, Timothy A. Sprague of Jamestown and Daniel (Sarah) Holt of Wake Forest, NC; two step-sisters, Tammy Holt of Dallas, TX and Kimberly Hagelin of Jamestown, and two step-brothers, Troy Holt of Dallas and Gregory Brink of Jamestown; a niece, Natalie Holt of Wake Forest and nephew, Corey G. (Roxann) Sprague of Newark, NY; an aunt, Sandra Russell of Buffalo and uncle, Richard (JoAn) Nelson of Jamestown; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Earl N. Sprague who died December 26, 2000. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. Pastor Timothy Stahlman will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Road, Jamestown, NY 14701; or to a charity of choice.
