Obituary of Charles T. Salzler
Charles T. Salzler, 59, of 95 Boulevard in Celoron, died at 11:45 a.m. Thursday (December 15, 2011) in WCA Hospital.
He was born March 24, 1952 in Springville, NY, a son of Pansy Nason Salzler and the late James Salzler. Charlie was a graduate of Eden Central High School, as well as Jamestown Community College.
An area resident for over 30 years, he was an industrial electrician employed earlier by the Cummins Engine Co. in Lakewood (where he was known as "Cambox Charlie") and later by SKF Bearings in Jamestown.
Charlie was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lakewood, the UAW and in previous years enjoyed coaching the Celoron Blue Jays little league baseball team.
Surviving is his wife, Sandra Szwed Salzler, whom he married November 26, 1977; a daughter, Dr. Harmony Salzler and her husband, Michael Strauss of Durham, NC; a son, Aaron Salzler of Celoron; a grandson, Cameron Strauss of Durham; his mother, Pansy Nason Salzler of Eden, NY; eight siblings: Diane (Robert) Wood, Donald (Nancy) Salzler, Jeanne (Ted) Schweickert, Joanne (Scott) Dexter, Madonna (Mark) Spitler, Michelle (Ed) Cannizzaro, Robert Salzler and James Salzler; his beloved dog, Odie; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Msgr. Joseph M. Dowdell will be the celebrant.
Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home, where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 1:45 p.m.
Donations in his honor may be made to the Chautauqua County Humane Society or the American Heart Association.
