Obituary of Vinson K. Lund
Vinson K. Lund, 92, of 2920 Donelson Road, Busti, died Thursday December 29, 2011, in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born January 30, 1919, in Jamestown, a son of the late Victor and Emma Jean Kling Lund.
For more than 50 years he was a member of Carpenters Union, Local 66. He worked as construction superintendant for Ludwig Construction Company and then later for Remco Construction Company. He earlier had worked for Grandin's Feed Mill.
He will be remembered for raising beef cattle, working in the woods and telling stories. He enjoyed many trips to Florida and traveling back and forth to Anderson University with his niece and two nephews. One of Vinson's favorite trips was to Sweden with his nephew. While he had no children of his own, he always considered his dog Pal and his cat Sylvia his children. He was especially close to all of his nieces and nephews.
Surviving are three siblings June Bigelow of Portland, NY, Jennie (Sherwood) Sampson of Jamestown and Gordon (Priscilla) Lund of Busti; several nieces and nephews including Diane Ferguson, Dr. Michael Lund, Thad Lund, Nancy Keefe, Debbie Pryde, Sandy Desmond, Patty Straccamore, Joyce Thomas, Ruth Lamer, Robin Richmond, Beth Dudek, Brenda Simitoski and John, Paul, Brian, Bruce and David Bigelow and several great nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his step mother Mollie Lund.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. Rev. Roy E. Ferguson of the Busti Church of God, will officiate.
Burial will be in Busti Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2-4 Sunday and for one hour prior to the service Monday in the funeral home.
