Obituary of Ronald Gary Sellman
Ronald Gary Sellman, 67, of Jamestown, died at 6:15 a.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 in WCA Hospital.
He was born in Jamestown, a son of the late Kenneth Oscar and Evelyn Virginia Wennerberg Sellman.
Ron was a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Army and continued his 20 plus years of service in the Army Reserves. He had an honorable discharge and received the following medals: National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Ron met his wife while serving in the United Sates Army and together they had their three children while living in Vietnam. After returning to the United States, he was employed locally by Flickinger's for several years and then by Crawford Furniture, from where he eventually retired. He was a member of the Herman Kent Post American Legion in Celoron.
Ron loved his family, war planes, music and dancing.
Surviving is his wife, Am T. Dinh Sellman; two daughters, Deborah Am (Michael) Forbes of Grand Rapids, MI and Julie Christine (Stephen) French of Warren, PA; a son, Daniel Christifer (Jodi) Sellman of Pittsburgh, PA; and five grandchildren, Maxwell Alexander and Benjamin Oliver Forbes, Tia Evelyn French, and Troy Hunter and Haley Bryn Sellman. Ron is also survived by a sister, Nancy Sellman of San Diego, CA.
In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by a brother, Allen Sellman.
A celebration of his life will be held at 8:00 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. Friends will be received for two hours prior, from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
