Obituary of Samuel J. Ferraro

Samuel J. Ferraro, 93, of Hultquist Place, formerly of 13 Harris Ave Jamestown, died at 4:30 a.m. Saturday (January 7, 2012) in WCA Hospital. He was born May 11, 1918 in Summerville, PA the son of James and Grace Cammarata Ferraro. Prior to retirement, Sam worked at Crawford Furniture for many years. He was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus, where he earned the 4th degree. He was an avid golfer and coached many Babe Ruth Baseball teams over the years. Sam was devoted to his family. Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Viola Gelotte Ferraro; a son, James P. (Nancy) Ferraro of Brentwood, TN; a daughter, Nancy Blatt of Santa Rosa, CA; a granddaughter, Alicia (Bryan) Collins of New Albany, OH; and twin great grandsons, Samuel and William Collins. He was preceded in death by his sister, Rose Latona, and his son in law, Paul Blatt. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday January 9, 2012 in St. James Catholic Church. The Rev. Darrell G. Duffy, pastor, will be celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Lind Funeral Home where a Christian Wake Service will be led at 4:00 p.m.
