Obituary of Olga A. Haines
Olga A. Haines, 92, formerly of Jamestown, died Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Pleasant Ridge Manor in Girard, PA.
An area resident most of her life, she was born February 23, 1919 in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of the late Stephen and Mary Kranjic Turk Sr. and graduated from Frewsburg Central School in 1937.
Olga had worked for 20 years as an upholsterer at the former Jamestown Lounge Company.
A devout Catholic and member of St. John Catholic Church, she also more recently attended St. James Catholic Church.
Surviving is a son, Wallie E. Haines of Fairfield, OH; five grandchildren: Kelly (Kurt) Duska of Erie, PA, Krista Haines of Jamestown, NY, Korry (Eric) Johnson of Lawrenceburg, IN and Alexander Gottlieb and Lauren Gottlieb, both of Delray Beach, FL; five great-grandchildren: Nicholas, Jacob and Eva Rose Duska of Erie and Tatum and Elliott Johnson of Lawrenceburg; a son-in-law, Gary Gottlieb of Delray Beach, FL; and several nieces and nephews..
Olga was preceded in death by her husband, Edward E. Haines, whom she married June 27, 1953 and who died May 15, 1978; a son, Stephen A. Haines who died in 1969 and daughter, Deborah A. Gottlieb who died in 2007; and three brothers, Peter Turk, Stephen Turk Jr. and John Turk Sr.
Her family will always remember Olga for her gentle ways and the courage she showed throughout her life. She enjoyed playing cards and golf. Olga will be greatly missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday in Holy Apostles Parish, St. John Church. The Rev. Dennis W. Mende will be celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home, where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 5:45 p.m.
