Obituary of Howard T. Larson

Howard T. Larson, 86, of 3347 Driftwood Road, Bemus Point, died Monday February 6, 2012, in his home, surrounded by his loving family. A native of Jamestown, he was born May 6, 1925, the son of the late Thurston and Signe Brostrom Larson. He was a 1943 graduate of Jamestown High School and later graduated from University of Buffalo with an engineering degree in 1951. He was a WWII veteran of the US Air Force serving from 1943-46. Prior to his retirement in 1987, he was employed by MRC-TRW as an industrial engineer. He was a lifelong member of Zion Covenant Church, where he served as Sunday school superintendent and on the board of Christian education. He also sang with the church choir for over 50 years and the Men's Chorus of the church. His civic involvement included serving on the Covenant Manor board of directors. Surviving are his wife the former Dorothy Forbes, whom he married June 19, 1948; four children Dawn Larson of Brecksville, OH, and Daryl Larson, Laurel Haight and Taylor Larson all of Bemus Point; three grandchildren Jacob Larson and Chelse Loucks, both of Bemus Point and Amy (Jeremy) Shaffer of Jamestown and a sister Carolyn Johnson of Portland, OR. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a step mother Ruth Larson. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Zion Covenant Church. Rev. Steven Johnson and Rev. Rick Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Bemus Point Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home.
