Obituary of Patricia C. Nagle
Our most beloved family member, Patricia C. "Patsy" Nagle, will be missed in our hearts until we are joined again in heaven. Patsy age 81, formerly of 1727 Orr St. Ext. passed away at 12:20 p.m. Tuesday (February 14, 2012) in the Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility.
An area resident for most of her life, she was born Patricia Caroline Latham on September 4, 1930 in Bradford, PA a daughter of the late Lyle and Helen Goodford Latham.
Her father was an entrepreneur and Patsy's family traveled much of her childhood. They moved to Florida, where she spent most of her youth growing up. Her family then moved to Jamestown. NY, where she attended and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1949. In 1950 she married the love of her life-Peter Richard Nagle, and permanently planted her roots in Jamestown, where she raised her family. Her life in Jamestown was interrupted only by the four years her husband served in the U.S. Navy, when they lived in Washington, DC.
Patsy became employed at the Jamestown Telephone Company as a Customer Service Representative, where she met people who would become some of her best friends. Later in life, as her children grew up, she returned to work at Marine Midland Bank in Falconer, where she thoroughly enjoyed serving and meeting people and from which she retired in 1992.
Patricia's life was a testament to giving completely of herself to her family, friends, and her church, St. Luke's Episcopal Church. She had an incredible capability of unconditional love, forgiveness and unwavering dedication to her faith. She was generous in giving of her time to help others less fortunate, and dedicated much of her free time to charities such as her volunteer service to the foundation of her faith-her church. Patsy's faith was deep and enduring and she was wholly devoted to her church. She served for many years as President of the St. Luke's Thrift Shop, served as an usher in the choir, on the vestry and the altar guild. Patsy loved to cook, especially for church Lenten and clergy dinners. She also volunteered for the RSVP program, in many capacities. Her family, her church, and the community have suffered a great loss, but her gifts of love and wonderful memories will last forever. She asked for so little, but gave so much. Patsy also loved music and the theater where she acted in several plays at Little Theater of Jamestown.
Patsy fought a lengthy battle with Alzheimers and Leukemia. Although she lost her ability to speak, she still communicated by her tender smile whenever she saw her loving husband, family, friends and caregivers.
She is survived by her loving husband Peter Richard Nagle whom she married August 6, 1950, two sons, who she loved so much, David (Juliann) Nagle of Coral Springs, FL, Timothy (Donna) Nagle and her granddaughter Hannah Nagle of Glen Allen, VA, her sister Lillian McLane of Palatka, FL, her nieces Kathleen Anderson of Lakewood, NY, Karen Zielinski of Rockford, MI, Debbie McLane of Palatka, FL, Nina Norman of Palatka, FL. and her nephew Jack Nagle of Melbourne, FL.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday in the St. Luke's Episcopal Church. The Rev. Eric M. Williams, Rector of St. Luke's will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends following the service on Friday in the undercroft of the church.
