Obituary of Louis J. Brunecz
Louis J. Brunecz, 88, of Warren, PA formerly of 4321 Lawson Road, Jamestown, died Thursday February 16, 2012 in UPMC Hamot Medical Center, Erie, PA.
He was born September 11, 1923 in Sugar Grove, PA the son of the late Michael and Katherine Horvath Brunecz.
Louis was a US Navy Veteran serving in Okinawa during WWII, receiving a Purple Heart. Prior to retirement, he worked for many years at Blackstone Corp., and also operated a farm on Lawson Road. He was a member of the Sugar Grove Am Vets; the American Legion, and the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club.
Surviving are two daughters, Judy Hottel of Warren, PA; Vicki (Ron) Blackmer of Russell, PA; two sons, Nick (Tammy) Brunecz of Busti, NY; James Brunecz (Sally Bowers) of Lakewood, NY; two step daughters, Sandy (Jim) Lyle of Scandia, PA; Sue (Bibb) Carlson of Denver, CO; ten grandchildren, Brenda Whyte, Scott Hottel, Jill Kerekanich, Ryan, Craig, and Nichole Brunecz, Jeremy Siliano, Stephanie Lindell, Kacie and Nissa Carlson; nine great grandchildren; a sister, Mary (George) Tichy of Ashville, NY; and a brother, Martin Brunecz of Phoenix, AZ.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Smith Brunecz in 1968; his second wife, Carol Swanson Brunecz in 2009; a great grandson, Tyler Hottel; and nine brothers, Mike, Steve, Frank, Joe, John, Andrew, Jack, Pete, and Carl Brunecz.
The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Marcus Briggs will officiate.
Burial with full Military Honors will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
