Obituary of Daniel C. Burgeson
Daniel C. Burgeson, 58, of 6 Wildwood Ave. Jamestown, died Sunday February 19, 2012 in the Buffalo VA Hospital surrounded by his loving family and brotherhood.
He was born September 27, 1953 in Jamestown the son of Irving C.L. and Donna J. Cheney Burgeson.
Dan was a 1972 Graduate of Panama Central School where he wrestled all through high school. He was a US Army Veteran with the Green Beret Airborne Rangers, retiring as Sgt Major after 30 years service, working as a heavy mobile equipment repairer lead man with M.A.T.E.S. at Camp Roberts. An accomplished Black Belt, Dan ran a Karate Studio, and drove truck for Port-a-Port in California. In Jamestown, he worked as a certified welder at Jamestown Metal and played bass in several area bands. He was a member of the Odd Fellows; VFW; past commander of the DAV; a 25 year member and state chaplain of the Vietnam Vets-Legacy Vets Motorcycle Club; and was an ordained pastor, Chaplain of the Jamestown VVA, and co-pastor of Victory Tabernacle.
A true outdoorsman, Dan enjoyed hunting, fishing, especially trolling with his late brother Tim, and earlier in his life participated in the 4-H beef cattle program. Dan drove in the Spectator Class at Stateline Speedway and Sprint and Indy cars in California. He loved music, stamp collecting, his pets, and most important, his family and the brotherhood he shared with his fellow motorcycle members.
Surviving besides his parents of Watts Flats are, his fianc Rebecca Bailey of Jamestown; three daughters, Tia (Adam) Kester of Panama; Tara Quinn of Paso Robles, CA; Tori Tanner of Buckeye, AZ; two sons, Shaun and Shaen Burgeson both of Paso Robles, CA; 14 grandchildren, Riley, Paige, Zoe, Kate, Hunter Rose, Steven, Amanda, Jessica, Eli, Memphis, Cy, Mikel, Emily, Lucas; a brother Jon Burgeson of Jamestown; a sister Christine Burgeson Stebbins of Watts Flats; a niece, Baylee R.C. (Michael) Stebbins of Watts Flats; and four nephews, Logan J. Stebbins of Watts Flats; Reede (Jennifer) Burgeson of Lakewood; Timothy Scott (Rebecca) Burgeson Jr. of Rochester; J.R. (Betsy) Burgeson of Panama; his sister-in-law, Cheryle "Sam" Burgeson (wife of brother Tim); and great nieces and great nephews, Gage, Hayden, Carlyn, and Oliver.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clair and Genevra Burgeson; Otis and Elva Cheney; and his brother, Timothy S. Burgeson.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday February 24, 2012 in the Panama United Methodist Church. The Rev. Steven Taylor will officiate.
Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday February 23, 2012 in the Lind Funeral Home.
