Obituary of Nigel Sylvester Roberts

Nigel Sylvester Roberts, 46, of 9 Maple St., Jamestown, NY, died unexpectedly Monday, February 27, 2012, at the WCA Hospital. He was born on February 17, 1966, on the island of St. Croix, US Virgin Islands. He was the son of the late James and Loretta Roberts. He was a 1984 graduate of St. Croix Central High School, and received his AS Degree from Jamestown Community College. For many years, Nigel was employed as a CNA at the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility, and earlier worked at Bush Industries. He enjoyed music, but reverencing the Lord and time spent with his family was most important. He leaves to mourn three sons, Roshad and Malcolm Roberts, both of Jamestown; Abdul Roberts of Columbia, SC; a daughter, Jennel Roberts of Jamestown; four grandchildren, Chloe Roberts, Makye, Quinton, and Qa'Von Becker; stepmother Elaine Roberts, St. Croix USVI; a sister Ernetta (Tommy) Roberts of Tallahassee, FL; two brothers, Osbert (Renae) Roberts of Tallahassee, FL; Kevin Roberts of Charlotte, NC; aunts Janet Cornelius, Antigua WI and Octavia Nelson, Brooklyn NY; uncles Edmeston Brotherson, St. Kitts WI and Abraham Brotherson, Rockport TX; Clarence Roberts, NJ; great aunts Cecilia Brotherson, St. Thomas USVI and Letitia Gumbs (Prince) St. Kitts WI; godmother Anesta Madeline Roberts, St. Croix USVI; a nephew Azzie Alexander Osbert Roberts, Tallahassee, FL; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents James and Loretta Roberts; an infant daughter, Jaelyn Loretta Grace Roberts; and a granddaughter, Kasia Mae Roberts. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday March 6, 2012, at the Lind Funeral Home, 805 West 3rd Street, Jamestown, NY, and officiated by Pastor Beth Whitehead. Burial will be held at the Sunset Hill Cemetery, immediately after the service. The family will receive friends and relatives on Monday, March 5, from 6-8 pm, at the Lind Funeral Home.
