Obituary of David L. Davenport

David L. Davenport, 71, of 1957 Hoag Rd., Ashville, NY passed away at 7:02 a.m. Saturday (March 3, 2012) in his home. A lifelong area resident he was born September 1, 1940 in Westfield, NY a son of the late Richard H. and Margaret Bush Davenport. In previous years he was employed by Jamestown Metal, John Wiggers and Son, the Dairy Herd Improvement Association, Phoenix Metal and was a bus driver for the Y.W.C.A. in Jamestown. He enjoyed being outdoors working around the farm, woodworking, hunting, fishing and camping. Surviving are his wife Carol J. Shaffer Davenport whom he married September 16, 1961, two sons Scott D. (Connie Grove) Davenport of Ashville, Mark E. (Sharon) Davenport of Panama, two granddaughters Courtney Lescynski of Mayville, Kalli Davenport of Ashville, a brother Daniel J. (Elaine) Davenport of Ashville and a sister Patricia (Gordon) Saulsgiver of Lakewood. Besides his parent he was preceded in death by a son Brian A. Davenport who died June 12, 1989 and a brother Gary Davenport. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. A reception will follow at the North Harmony Senior Citizens Building.
