Obituary of Audrey H. Olson

Audrey H. Olson, 94, formerly of 152 Aldren Ave Jamestown, passed away Saturday March 3, 2012 at the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center. Audrey was born in Roanoke, VA on February 2, 1918 to Elias F. and Mattie Agee Hairfield. She was Valedictorian of the class of 1936 at William Fleming High School in Roanoke. She married Rhoe Henderson Jr. and moved to Jamestown in 1943. While raising her two children, she volunteered for the Mothers' March on Polio, the Opti-mrs. Club, and "Operation Lady," the Air Force Reserve Auxiliary, among others. She held several officer positions in the latter, including President. Audrey was a long time employee in the Chem Lab of Blackstone Corp. She was a parishioner of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She is survived by her beloved and devoted husband, Carl L. Olson whom she married on May 13, 1978; a daughter, Caryl H. Herson (Steve) of Larchmont, NY; a son, Rhoe B. Henderson III (Sharron) of Lakewood, NY; a step-son, Curtis Olson (Liz) of Jamestown, NY; grandchildren, Gregory (Elizabeth) Herson of Carlsbad, CA; Christopher (Kathy) Herson of Mt Kisco, NY; Christopher Henderson of Jamestown; and Brittnay Henderson of Silver Creek, NY. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Craighead, and Della Lindner; and a brother, Fred Hairfield. A Celebration of her Life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday March 7, 2012 in Immanuel Lutheran Church. The Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt, Lutheran Home Chaplain will officiate. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service Wednesday in the Church. Interment will be in Lake View Cemetery. Her wonderful disposition and beautiful smile will be deeply missed.
