Obituary of Mary Ellen Windoft
Mary Ellen Warner Windoft, 73, of 40 Vista Way, Lakewood, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, March 10, 2012.
She was born November 19, 1938 in Corning, NY, the daughter of Emily Sigular Warner and the late Kenneth C. Warner.
Mary Ellen graduated from Southwestern Central School in 1956 and subsequently attended Lake Erie College. Following college, she was employed locally by Dr. Norman Johnson, DDS and later by WCA Hospital.
Mary Ellen was a successful real estate agent for many years in Chautauqua county, having been co-owner of Winturn Realty. She also served on the grievance committee for the assessor's office in the Village of Lakewood for many years.
Mary Ellen was a member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club and a former member of Moonbrook Country Club and the Chautauqua Lake Yacht Club. She was also a member of the New York State Board of Realtors, the Lakewood United Methodist Church, where she was active in choir, and a longstanding member of the Creche.
Mary Ellen was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her mother, Emily S. Warner of Lakewood; a step-sister, Virginia Card of Celoron; three sons: Dr. James M. (Valerie) Scarpino, David J. Scarpino and Thomas C. Scarpino of Jamestown; and six grandchildren: Lisa Marie, Julie Anne, Laurie Elise, Holly Elin, Morgan Leigh and Madison Nicole Scarpino, all of Jamestown. Also surviving are seven step-children: Celeste (Dana) Bolles, Betsy (Don) Johnson, Kellie (David) Bargar, Maryann (Robert) Whitney, Thomas (Andrea) Windoft, Michael (Melissa) Windoft and Casey (Amy) Windoft; 14 step-grandchildren: Whitney and Jeffrey Bolles, Apryl Jackson Troutman, Gregory Jackson, Nathaniel, Kristen and William Bargar, Todd Whitney, Benjamin and Brock Windoft, Sara and Cristofer Windoft, and Emily and Carter Windoft; and two step-great-grandchildren, Quentin and Abigail Bolles.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Byron Lee "Bud" Windoft who died December 15, 2011.
The funeral will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday prior to the service in the funeral home.
