Obituary of Dorothy A. Carlson
Dorothy A. Carlson, 98, formerly of 146 W. Summit Avenue, Lakewood and Loyalton of Lakewood, died Tuesday March 20, 2012, in the Rouse Home, Youngsville, PA.
An area resident all of her life, she was born February 1, 1914, in Jamestown, a daughter of Anton and Anna Petterson Anderson.
In 1963 she and her late husband Stanley Carlson, co-founded and operated Sunset Valley Golf Course. She earlier had worked for 24 years at Automatic Voting Machine Corporation.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church since 1914 and also belonged to its Ladies Aide. Her other memberships include Norden Women's Club, Marvin Community House, Maplehurst Country Club, national and local AARP and Senior Super Travelers. She was a life member of Machinists Union #2495.
Surviving are two sons Ronald (Delores) Carlson of Owego, NY and Walter "Wally" (Janice) Carlson of Summerfield, FL; four grandchildren Michael (Madeline) Carlson of Washington, PA, Gregory (Susie) Carlson of Avon, NY, David (Barbara) Carlson of Lakewood, NY and Christin Harris of Nashville, IN and six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Stanley W. Carlson, whom she married July 11, 1931 and who died December 29, 1981, a brother Raymond Anderson in 1972 and a sister Eva DuBois Fahey 1996.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 1-3 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home.
