Obituary of John D'Angelo
John D'Angelo, 83, of Emeritus of Lakewood, formerly of 303 Shadyside Ave. Lakewood passed away at 5:10 p.m. Thursday (March 22, 2012) in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility, surrounded by his loving family.
A lifelong area resident he was born February 16, 1929 in Jamestown, NY a son of the late Charles and Emmanuela Romano D'Angelo.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from December 7, 1950 to October 4, 1952 during the Korean War.
Before his retirement in 1994, he was employed as a foreman for the Ethan Allen Company in Mayville and in earlier years had worked for the former Jamestown Lounge Company until its closing in 1983. He also worked for the Town Club, the Brass Rail and the former Red Coach Inn.
John was a member of the Herman Kent Post # 777, American Legion, the War Vets, the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club and the Jamestown Shrine Club.
He will be remembered as a loving and caring father, grandfather and great grandfather who loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and walking his black lab "Kelly". He was also an avid Yankee fan and NASCAR fan of Dale Earnhardt.
Surviving are seven children Deborah (Fudge) Parinella of Jamestown, Ricci J. D'Angelo of Jamestown, Samuel (Donna) D'Angelo of Sarasota, FL, Pattie (Rich) Barie of Olean, NY, Kate (Ron) Hopkins of Princeton, WVA, Emma L. (Charlie) Arnone of Charlotte, NC, Nancy (Pat) Lindberg of Lexington, SC, two stepchildren Linda Rinaldo of Jamestown, Kimberly (Mark) Johnson of Virginia Beach, VA, 13 grandchildren Robbie (Jenn) Parinella, Sammy Parinella, Ricci (Wendy) D'Angelo, Michelle (Mike) Altepeter, Diane (Kurt) Cummings, Jillian D'Angelo, Sammy D'Angelo, Richie Barie, Amie (Branden) Ball, Jenn Conway, Jade Conway, Patrick Lindberg, Andrew Lindberg, four step grandchildren Eric Eckstrom, Drew, Troy and Brett Rinaldo, 10 great grandchildren, several step great grandchildren, three brothers Joseph D'Angelo of Gerry, Thomas (June) D'Angelo of Horseheads, NY, Frank D'Angelo of Fitzgerald, GA, three sisters Philomena Ippolito, Gloria (Ken) Martin both of Jamestown, Rosalie D'Angelo of St. Louis, MO.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Betty June Johnson D'Angelo who died July 25, 1974, his second wife Barbara Orr D'Angelo who died June 18, 1995, two brothers Emanuel and Peter D'Angelo, a sister Marie A. Pavlock and his step mother Rafaela D'Angelo.
The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Violet Davidson, pastor of the Lakewood United Methodist Church will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Lake View Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 5-7 p.m. Sunday and for one hour prior to the service on Monday in the funeral home.
