Obituary of Bernice M. Crouch

Bernice Mae Crouch (ne Poreda), 82, of Jamestown, died Monday, March 19, 2012, at her daughter's home in Jamestown. She was born April 9, 1929, in Norwich, Connecticut, the daughter of Alexander Edward Poreda and Viola Bernice (Palmer) Poreda. She attended the Broad School Elementary School, and was a 1947 graduate of the Norwich Free Academy, both in Norwich, Connecticut. She married Joseph Daniel Crouch on November 1, 1952, in New London, Connecticut. She was predeceased by her parents; her three brothers, Alexander Edward Poreda, Jr., Donald Palmer Poreda, and Elwood Hoven Poreda; and by her husband, Joseph. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Harriette (Curtis) Poreda Knowlton, of Storrs, CT; a daughter, Linda Certo and her husband, Gregory Certo, of Jamestown; a son, Joseph Crouch, Jr., of Ashville; a granddaughter, Claire Certo, and a grandson, Nicholas Certo, both of Jamestown; a niece, Jacquelin (Poreda) Clement, of Mansfield Center, CT; and a grandniece, Laurie (Clement) Howlett of Chaplin, CT. Bernice was a highly regarded legal secretary in various law firms in southeastern Connecticut. After retiring, she joined her family in Jamestown, NY, in 1995. Arrangements are made by the Lind Funeral Home, 805 West Third Street, Jamestown. There are no calling hours. The funeral and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
