Dearest Ashley, I miss you so very much. I can't believe I can't hold you and see your beautiful smile. But,I see you all around me, in all that is lovely and warm and beautiful. I am so grateful for the signs you have sent us. I think you send these signs to try to reassure us; to let us know you are ok. I know you must be in a place where you are happy and can see us and hear us and feel our love. You have given so much to so many in your short lifetime. We are all blessed to have known you but our lives will never be the same after losing you. All my love darling girl, Eileen (Iris)

Coming from a life where you have moved 12 times, saying you have kept in touch with someone for almost 20 years is practically unheard of. I met Ashley in Bad Kreuznach in 2nd grade.
She was smarter and more mature than the rest of our classmates, so naturally, I was fond of her. I didn't understand my feelings or how they worked, but now, I know that she was my first crush.
After the inception of social networking, Ashley and I were able to reconnect after many years. It was exciting for me to hear from her after such a long time and I was even able to see her during the Cross Country Europeans in Heidelberg in 2005.
Our time knowing one another was sporadic, but no matter what, talking to Ashley was always like talking to an old friend.
I was terribly saddened to hear about her loss and I wish her family good health for the future. She will be greatly missed. There is a void in my life knowing that my first friend is not blessing the world with her presence anymore.
Ashley- I look forward to the day where we can catch up like we always have managed to do over the years.

Dear Liz and family,
Although we have been apart for a while now you and your precious daughter have always been a big part of who we are. My children remember Ashley has the kind swimming teacher and the girl who got along with everyone. When I think of who I wanted my children to mirror after it was Ashley. She loved life. Her relationship with you, Liz, was one to be envious of. As a parent we all wanted what the two of you had. Her time on this earth gave my family more than you will ever realize. We love you all.

Dear Mary - I'm not sure if you remember me - your grampa Frank and my gramma Kate were brother and sister. Our families used to get together when you and I were kids. I cannot begin to tell you how sorry I was to hear about your daughter Ashley. This is an unimaginable tragedy for any parent. We saw your parents last May when my dad passed away and they were so proud to be going on to Ashley's graduation at Bona's afterward. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Ashley, we played soccer together at Bitburg High School. You were a senior on the team. When I came in as the only freshman on the team, I looked up to you, not only for your skills on the field, but for what a bright and happy person you were. You were always upbeat and kept the team spirit up. This great attitude transcended the field. You made me feel welcome at school, you were one of the smartest people I knew. You were not just smart, but kind. There was never a bad word to be said about you. You provided me and many others with an example of what to be in high school,C not just a great student, or student athlete, but also a great person. Your life has been taken too soon and I know all of us from Bitburg High School, and all over the world are mourning the loss of such a wonderful girl. May you rest in peace, and my prayers are with your family in this difficult time.

What a pleasure it was to know Ashley and see, first hand, how she used the talents God gave her to bring positive influence and goodness to everyone she met. And, that's a treasure that will live forever! As Ashley passes from earthly life to eternal life (particularly during this Holy Week), I know she's welcomed, warmly, by her God and saints Francis and Bonaventure. Dear Mary and Shelly,
I am so very sorry for the unexpected loss of your beautiful Ashley. It is very tragic and I want you to know that I share your grief.
"Death is a sad and tragic affair
Even when it is long anticipated
But no death is as hard on the living
As the unexpected death of a loved one
Death does not always come with warning
With time to say the sad farewells
Sometimes it comes, unannounced
With no time for even a brief goodbye
There are the saddest of times
When death takes one so dear to us
Without any warning, unexpected
And in our grief, we bid our sad farewell"
Much love to you and your family. Sheila

I met Ashley while she was visiting her mother in Bitburg. She was as a very happy young lady with a sunny disposition. It was clear she loved her mother very much and will be dearly missed. My greastest sympathy to the entire family.
