Obituary of Jennings I. Waldron
Jennings I. Waldron, 90, formerly of Lewiston, NY passed away at 3:15 p.m. Monday, April 2, 2012, in the Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility.
An area resident since 2003, he was born July 21, 1921 in Hazelton, PA; the son of the late Joseph J. and Gwawr Griffiths Waldron.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving with the 45th Signal Company from February 2, 1943 to November 18, 1945 during World War II.
Before his retirement he was employed for 41 years by the AT&T Company, working out of the Buffalo, NY office. He began his career as a lineman and retired as a computer operator.
He attended the Bemus Point United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Lewiston, NY Seniors Club and was active with the Telephone Company Pioneers Club.
He will be remembered as a loving, caring father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time in his garden and was also an avid bowler. He enjoyed yearly trips with his family to Drag Lake in Canada. He was a real gentleman who was well loved and respected by all who knew him. His family and friends will remember him for his kind spirit, tender heart and the ever present twinkle in his eye.
Surviving are two sons David (Debbie) Waldron of Bemus Point, NY, Dennis (Suzanne) Waldron of Spencerport, NY, four grandchildren Paul Waldron, Nathan (Amy) Wadron both of Rochester, NY, Sheri Waldron of Greensboro, NC, Krista Waldron of Arcarta, CA, a great grandson Caleb Jennings Waldron, a brother Donald Waldron of IN and his fiance Fredera Stiglmeier of Orchard Park, NY.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife the former Dorothy Knize Waldron whom he married September 29, 1945 and who died March 29, 2003.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2012 in the Bemus Point United Methodist Church. The Rev. Daniel G. McBride pastor will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Bemus Point Cemetery.
