Obituary of Dorothy P. Hamilton

Dorothy P. Hamilton, 91, formerly of 15 Green St. Lakewood, NY went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012, in the Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. An area resident for most of her life she was born December 6, 1920 in Union City, PA a daughter of the late Cyrus G. and Maggie Pearl Kitelinger Proper. In earlier years she was a demonstrator for Home Interior Products and was also an integral part in the ministry of her husband Rev. Wayne J. Hamilton. She was a member of the Lakewood Baptist Church and also led a Ladies Bible Study with her close friends for many years. Surviving are her children Rev. Richard J. (Margaret) Hamilton of Stockton, NY, Rev. Ronald E. (Shirley) Hamilton of Woodbury, MN, Gail J. (Larry) Levenger of Dayton, TN, Janice L. (Cliff) Jones of Lakewood, NY, Cheryl L. (Floyd) Peters of Poplar, WI, Darlene M. (Mike) Nygren of Jamestown, NY, a daughter-in-law, Roseann Hamilton of Keller, TX, 22 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren and a sister Phyllis Straite of Corry, PA. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Wayne J. Hamilton whom she married November 27, 1938 and who died June 9, 1990, a son Robert W. Hamilton who died in 1992, 3 brothers Claude, Vaughn and Marshall Proper and a sister Maebelle Stedman. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the Lakewood Baptist Church. The Rev. Daniel Cook will officiate. Burial will be in the Fluvanna Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home.
