Obituary of Jack E. Treharne

Jack E. Treharne, 86, formerly of Rt. 60 Gerry, NY, passed away at 2:40 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2012, in the Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. He was born April 16, 1925 in Ridgeway, PA a son of the late John and Nora Moore Treharne. Jack was a graduate of Jamestown High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from March 20, 1944 to May 7, 1946 in Central Europe, Northern France and Rhineland during World War II. In earlier years he had worked for several area architectural firms including Julian Naetzker and Phillip Thorsell Architects. While living in Texas from 1979 to 1998, he was a Construction Manager for the Northwest Medical Center in Houston, TX before retiring back to Jamestown. He was a member of the Mt. Moriah Lodge # 149 Free and Accepted Masons, the Herman Kent Post #777, American Legion, the War Vets Recreation Club, a former member of the Jamestown Moose Lodge and was an avid golfer belonging to the South Hills Country Club. Surviving are two sons Dane D. Treharne of Gerry, NY, Stephen J. (Cris) Treharne of Alexandria, VA, a daughter Marty L. (Philip) Carcione of Jamestown, NY, two grandsons Peter M. Carcione of Buffalo, NY, Philip S. (fiance Nicole Strum) Carcione of New York City, a brother Robert (Pat) Treharne of Jamestown and three nephews John Treharne of Falconer, NY, Robert (Vivienne) Treharne of Tallahassee, FL, David (Amelia) Treharne, Sr. and a great nephew David Treharne, Jr. both of East Syracuse, NY. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Joyce A. Nohlquist Treharne who died May 20, 1995, his second wife Sharon Carpenter Treharne who died August 4, 1998 and a sister Shirley Treharne Jones. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 14, 2012, in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Samuel Shreffler, chaplain of Heritage Village will officiate. Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2012 in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Gerry Volunteer Fire Department, 4490 Gerry-Levant Rd. Gerry, NY 14740.
