Obituary of Pearl A. Evanczik

Pearl A. Evanczik, 94, formerly of 15 Lexington Place, Jamestown and the Frewsburg Rest Home, died Sunday, April 15, 2012 at the Lutheran Home & Rehabilitation Center. She was the widow of Steven Evanczik whom she married October 7, 1939 and who died January 5, 1992. Pearl was born October 2, 1917 in Jamestown, the daughter of the late Roy and Sadie Parsons Kent, and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1936. She worked in the Jamestown High School cafeteria for a number of years, retiring in 1979, and in earlier years did catering work with Werner's Market and Schuyler's Catering. Pearl was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She is survived by a son, David (Gayle) Evanczik and daughter, Sonya Rosdahl, both of Jamestown; a daughter-in-law, Sheila Evanczik of Jamestown; ten grandchildren: Susan (Darrel) Christian and Michael Evanczik, both of Jamestown, Shelli (Kevin) Offhaus of Mantica, CA, Jill (Curt) Anderson of Lakewood, NY, Staci (JR) Whittenhall of Celoron, NY, Sandra (Charles) Moss of Lake Havasu City, AZ, Rhonda (Chris) Walker of San Diego, CA, Brian (Sarah) Evanczik of Rapid City, SD, Erin Regan of Springville, NY and Shauna (Rich) Olrogg of Dunkirk, NY; 20 great-grandchildren and 2 great- great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Steven R. Evanczik who died September 20, 2011 and four brothers, Roy, Earl, Harrison and Bob Kent. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Alison L. Leitzel will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home Wednesday. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 556 E.
