Obituary of Marcus J. Greenfield
Marcus J. "Marc" Greenfield, 58, of 816 Spring St., formerly of Houston, TX, died Thursday (April 26, 2012) in WCA Hospital.
He was born October 15, 1953 in Houston the son of the late Helen Greenfield.
Marc worked as a boat mechanic in Houston and locally at Smith Boys Marina, and Ashville Bay Marina. He also worked as an auto mechanic and for Meals on Wheels.
Marc was devoted to his companion of 26 years, Karen Garvey and was a caregiver to her late parents, Donald and Dorothy Garvey. He was a US Army Veteran, serving in Vietnam, and participated in the Salamanca Veterans Tribute Pow Wow. Marc enjoyed NASCAR, was a Dale Earnhart Sr. fan, watching the History Channel, old cars, Harley Davidson's, and listening to Stevie Ray Vaughan. Lately he was restoring bicycles at the Gateway Center for needy children through Community Helping Hands. He will be missed by his cat, Xena.
In addition to his companion Karen Garvey, he is survived by a sister in law, Carol Garvey (Bruce Blood) of Little Valley; four nieces, Tracy (David) Woodfield of VA; Carrie (Chris) Thompson of AZ; Melissa (Greg) Barber of Falconer; Jessica Emke (Dan H) of Jamestown; eight great nieces and nephews; a sister, Tanya Greenfield and a brother, Gary Greenfield, both of Houston.
Besides his mother, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa Greenfield.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald E. Ray will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
Visitation will not be observed.
