Obituary of Thomas E. Atkinson

Thomas E. Atkinson, 74, of 18 Mission Street, died peacefully Sunday April 29, 2012. A native of Jamestown, he was born January 22, 1938, a son of the late Howard and Florence Carlson Atkinson, Sr. Prior to his retirement in 1999, he was a 43 year employee of Marlin Rockwell Corporation as a set up man. He earlier had worked for Pennsylvania Gas Company during which time they installed the gas line across Chautauqua Lake. He served in the National Guard from 1959-68. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and Lakewood Rod and Gun Club. He was an avid Nascar fan and enjoyed the time he spent golfing at Breezewood Links. Surviving are his wife the former Joyce Seager, whom he married November 22, 1958; two daughters Amy (Ron) Raffa of Jamestown and Kelly (Joe) Ryan of Alpine, CA and two granddaughters Brittany and Brooke Raffa, both of Jamestown. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Howard C. Atkinson, Jr. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. Rev. Alison L. Leitzel will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
