Obituary of Martin R. Adams

Martin R. Adams, 62, of 45 Vega St., died at 5:20 p.m. Tuesday (May 1, 2012) in WCA Hospital. He was born July 5, 1949 in Jamestown, a son of Evelyn Spencer Adams and the late Norman Adams. Marty was a 1967 graduate of Southwestern Central School and a veteran of the US Air Force. Marty was a member of the International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Iron Workers Local 3. His other memberships included the Herman Kent Post 777 American Legion, the DAV and the YMCA where he recently began volunteering at Camp Onyahsa. Surviving him are his mother; wife, Sandra Grice Adams whom he married July 24, 1971; four children: Ryan Adams and Becky Adams, both of Jamestown, Ashley Adams of Carrboro, NC and Vicki Adams of Brooklyn, NY; a grandson, Owen Mason of Carrboro; three sisters: Norma Wilson of Warren, PA, Valerie (Corey) Rettig of Bemus Point and Amy Adams of Bothell, WA; and a brother, Dave (Kelly) Adams of Ripley, NY. In addition to his father, Marty was preceded in death by a daughter, Kelly A. Adams who died September 24, 2000 and a brother, Larry Adams. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald E. Ray will officiate. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
