Obituary of Walter W. Carlson

Walter W. Carlson, 88, formerly of Eaglecrest Road Hamburg, NY, died Sunday May 6, 2012 in the Autumn View health Care Facility, Hamburg. He was born December 5, 1923 in Jamestown the son of the late J. Walfred and Elizabeth Wheeler Carlson. Walter was a US Army Veteran of WWII, serving as a Sgt in the Medical Corp. He had been employed at the former Watson Mfg. and prior to retirement worked for 40 years for Eastern Greyhound Lines as a bus driver where he was the consummate professional. He was a member of Mt. Moriah Masonic Lodge #145 F & AM. Surviving are two sons, Dale W. (Elizabeth) Carlson of Jamestown; Walter W. (Kim) Carlson Jr. of Hamburg, NY; four grandchildren, Michael E. Carlson, Matthew J. Carlson, Kristina Carlson, and Mitchell Carlson; one great grandson, Jacob E. Carlson; a sister, Katherine (Don) Lynn of Jamestown; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Allan Carlson and John L. Carlson. The funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Eric M. Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. A Masonic Lodge Funeral Service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
