Obituary of Franklin Matteson
Franklin L. "Frank" Matteson Sr., 72, of 10 Arlington Ave. Jamestown, passed away Saturday May 12, 2012 in his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born May 8, 1940 in Youngwood, PA the son of the late James and Caroline Pluck Matteson.
Prior to retirement, Frank was employed by the City Of Jamestown, and was a member of Teamsters Local 649. In earlier years, he enjoyed teaching his kids how to hunt and fish. Later, he enjoyed playing BINGO, and going to the Casino. Frank loved spending time with his grandchildren and going for rides with his son's in their tractor trailer.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Bonnie Riffle Matteson; six children, Orpha Penhollow, Celeste Matteson, both of Jamestown; Rhonda (Roger) Johnson of Quilliam, MO; Franklin (Kristin) Matteson Jr., of Jackson, GA; Barry R. Matteson of Jamestown; William (Melissa) Matteson of Randolph; 21 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and a brother, Charles William "Bill" (Kathleen) Matteson of Hartsville, SC. He will be deeply missed by Michael Penhollow and man's best friend, Buddy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Matteson.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and for one hour prior to the service Wednesday in the funeral home.
