Nearly 20 years ago I was welcomed to Jamestown with a golf game with Sam. He was a "mensch"...yiddish for " a person of integrity and honor. A GOOD man"
He touched us all. I was blessed to have know him and to have been welcomed by him to Jamestown. His charm, wit and graciousness will be missed by the community.

From the salon that moved down the hill to second street to Dorian's of today, Sam was part of my youth and part of the lives of so many, now gone, that I remember. He cut my hair the day before I got married 50 years ago. The world has less charm and gentility with his passing. My deepest sympathy to all his family. He is greatly missed and irreplaceable.

Sam was a friend and fellow Little Theater cast mate of my dad, Cherril Castle. I had the pleasure of knowing Sam and admired his spirit and love of life. The last time I saw Sam was when we were all working on the Lucy Hometown Wedding, July 2011 and was so glad to share this experience with him. He will be missed. When I opened the newspaper yesterday morning and saw Sam's picture, I cried. He has been a part of my life since I was a little girl tagging along to my mother's weekly hair appointments in the 60's. He was so sweet, indulging this little girl while he wielded his comb. Dorian's was a part of our family for so many years; Kandi cut my dad's hair for years... Sam would always greet me so kindly and graciously, sharing a memory of my mother perhaps, or just some nice conversation, but always knowing who I was, and while we spoke, making me feel as if I was the only one in the room. As I kept Sam in my prayers, I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers as you navigate this difficult time.

My memories of Sam go back to the 50s and 60s when I worked in Jamestown and was a regular weekly customer. I recall the annual Hair Style Shows that were a big social event held in the Ballroom of the Hotel Jamestown. I believe I was a model for several and remember wearing a pink wig for one. What a great man who gave much to his community.

Anita and family, I am so sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to you as I mourn with you from afar. Sam was one of the greatest men I have ever met, and to me as much of a Jamestown legend as Lucy herself. I will always remember how kind he was to everyone who crossed his path, his overwhelming talent, and how happy he made me feel everytime he wrapped me in a hug after a performance and told me I sang beautifully. His approval was like that of a rockstar's, and I suppose, truely, who in this world is more of a star than Sam Paladino? I will always love you Sam, and I'm sure you were taken from us just because the next world was so excited to meet you.

Deb,Candy and family,
My prayers and thoughts are with you all as you grieve the loss of a extremely important part of all of you. This I know because he left a lasting impression on me also. "Hollywood", as I called him, never hesitated to treat me or talk to me as one of his own. The opportunities he gave me in the hair business along with advice in my personal life, whether or not I wanted to hear it. He always did it with love and true concern. Your father was a very special and unique man. You all already know that. I am proud to say that I knew him personally and my love goes out to all of you.
