Obituary of Kathryn M. Parker

Kathryn M. (Atwater) Parker of Jamestown went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at the age of 93. She was residing at Heritage Park Skilled Nursing Facility at the time of her peaceful passing. Kae was born in Cherry Creek but had resided in Jamestown most of her life. She was born October 3, 1918, the daughter of John and Irma Atwater (nee Griswold). Kae was a graduate of Jamestown School of Practical Nursing and obtained her LPN license in 1955. She worked at what is now WCA Hospital and as a private duty nurse for many years. She was the manager of Hammond Organ Studio until her retirement, and was a private organ teacher and well-known organist for many years. Kae was involved in the Fraternal Order of the Elks, Shrine Club, Consistory, Eastern Star, United Methodist Women and was past President of the local Parkinson's Support Group and exercise group. She was a member of Christ First United Methodist Church, Jamestown. Kae was predeceased by her loving husband of 66 years Howard T. Parker in 2002 and their beloved daughter, Joan Y. Martin in 2005. She is survived by her son-in-law Wayne D. (Rose) Martin of Rochester, granddaughter Amy Kae (Richard) Snyder and their children Tara Joan, Shannon Dorothy, Ryan and Evan of Williamstown, New Jersey; grandson Dana D. (Sakiko) Martin and their children Noah, Caleb, Silas, Micah & Elijah of Albion, New York; grandson John (Jack) C. (Tania) Martin and their twins Kayleigh and Kaden of West Bend, Wisconsin; and her sister Helen Brown of Vero Beach, Florida as well as nieces and nephews. Per Kae's request: in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Joan Martin to Advent House/Hospice, 1010 Moseley Road Fairport, New York 14450 and to Christ First United Methodist Church in Jamestown, New York. Interment will be private at the Cherry Creek Central Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
