Obituary of Myrtle Lauinger

Myrtle Lauinger, 96, of 521 Weeks St., where she resided with her beloved grandson Jon, formerly of North Main St. Ext. passed away at 2:58 a.m. Tuesday (June 19, 2012) in W.C.A. Hospital. A lifelong area resident she was born July 4, 1915 in the Town of Ellery, a daughter of the late Frank Scott and Mary Melquist Rhodes. She was the widow of Joseph J. Lauinger whom she married December 1, 1934 in Falconer, NY and who died October 22, 1990. In earlier years she was employed by the former Fashion Clothes and also worked for several families in the Jamestown area. She will be remembered as an excellent seamstress who enjoyed making clothes for other people. Many other people will remember the gifts from her well tended rose and iris gardens. Myrtle was a devoted and active member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and the Falconer Methodist Church. Surviving are a daughter Mary Lou (Alton) Reichard of Jamestown, three grandchildren David (Tammy) Reichard of Ross Mills, Capt. (Ret.) Thomas (Marjorie) Reichard of Houston, TX, Jon (Mala) Reichard of Jamestown, seven great grandchildren and one great great grandson. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by a brother Alvin Rhodes who died in 1984. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will not be observed. Inurnment will be in the Fluvanna Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Falconer Public Library, 101 West Main St. Falconer, NY 14733.
