Obituary of Ebba E. Friberg

Ebba E. Friberg, 97, of Hultquist Palce,715 Falconer St. formerly of 128 Aldren Ave. went home to be with her Lord and Savior at 11:55 p.m. Thursday (June 21, 2012) in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center. A lifelong area resident she was born March 25, 1915 in Jamestown, NY a daughter of the late William and Ellen Benson Rudwall. She was a 1933 graduate of Jamestown High School. Ebba was well known as an excellent seamstress and in earlier years had worked at the former Bridal Shop and Nord's Women's Apparel. She and her husband Marshall also owned and operated a grocery store on Newland Ave. from 1937 to 1943 She was a longtime member of the First Covenant Church where she was active in many circles including the Hope Circle and the Senior Adult Fellowship. She also taught Sunday school and served on the Diaconate Board. In later years she served as a volunteer at Jamestown General Hospital and for Lutheran Social Services. Surviving is her daughter Kathleen A. (Bart) Anderson of Wilmette, IL, her son in law Christopher Shinkman of Bethesda, MD, four grandchildren Laurel (Mark) Johnson of Lynchburg, VA, Keith (Gretchen) Anderson of Seattle, WA, Matthew (Amy) Shinkman of Oakton, VA, Elizabeth (Theodore) Carter of Tacoma Park, MD, six great grandchildren Lukas and Erik Johnson, Jack and Ebba Shinkman, Ben and Brett Carter, and a sister Grace Thyreen of Wainsberg, PA. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Marshall A. Friberg whom she married July 25, 1936 and who died October 31, 2004, a daughter Marsha A. Shinkman, an infant daughter Elizabeth Marian Friberg, two brothers Allen and Ogden Rudwall and two sisters Alice Rudwall and Helen Smith. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2012, in the First Covenant Church. The Rev. Adam Rohler, pastor will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Lake View Cemetery. A reception for family and friends will be held following the service at noon in the Rosch Center on the campus of Lutheran Social Services. Memorials may be made to the First Covenant Church, 520 Spring St. Jamestown, NY 14701 or to Camp Mission Meadows, 5201 Rt. 430, Dewittville, NY 14728.
