Obituary of Lucy M. Myers
Lucy M. Myers, 94, formerly of 146 Barrows St., passed away peacefully on Sunday (June 24, 2012) at her home in LaVista, Nebraska where she had lived for the past 15 years.
She was born October 6, 1917 in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Antonio and Jessie Manuella Papaserge.
Lucy began work at a young age to help support her family. In earlier years, she was employed by the former Empire Worsted Mills and retired in the early 1980's after working 20 years for Chautauqua Hardware.
Lucy will always be remembered for her love of cooking, gardening, bird watching and reading.
She is survived by a daughter, Sally M. (Ron) Frick with whom she made her home in LaVista; three granddaughters, Robin (Steve) Christiansen, Lisa (Terry) Stoppel and Alison (Matt) Jahnke, six great-grandsons and three great- great-grandsons, all of Nebraska. Lucy is also survived by several grandnieces and a grandnephew, including Marilyn (Michele) Storms and Jessica (Jim) Hitchcock, who were like granddaughters to her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Seibel D. Myers whom she married in October 1961 and who died in May 1986; two sisters, Mary Warden and Catherine Cirrincione and a brother, John Papaserge; and a niece, Rosalee Muscarella in 2007 who Lucy raised as her own daughter.
Friends will be received at the Lind Funeral Home from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Monday. The funeral will be at 3:00 p.m. Monday with the Deacon Michael Lennon officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Hill Cemetery following the service.
