Obituary of Jean W. Cohen
Jean Webster Cohen, 84, of Jamestown, NY, passed away at 4:42 p.m. Saturday (July 7, 2012) in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center.
A lifelong area resident she was born May 28, 1928 in Jamestown, NY a daughter of the late Clifford and Margaret Gould Webster.
She had attended Falconer Public Schools and was a graduate of Falconer High School.
Jean was the owner of Peacock Inn, Inc. and operator of Eagle Ridge in Mayville, NY from 1972 to 1978, and was co-owner of Mason Recycling, Inc. in Jamestown for several years.
She was a member of the Christ First United Methodist Church, the Adult Sunday School Class and the United Methodist Women. She also served on the board of Harbor House for several years and was a literacy volunteer.
Jean enjoyed keeping a lovely home and will be remembered for her beautiful quilts. It is rumored that she had a jellybean tree and shared her harvest with the little folks who came to visit her.
Surviving are a daughter Carol DeMambro (James) Brooks of Friendswood, TX, a son Dana DeMambro of Salt Lake City, Utah, a step-son Nathan (Linda) Cohen of Jamestown, six grandchildren, one great grandson, a sister Ruth Watkins of Seminole, FL and a brother Douglas Webster of Roseville, CA.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, David A. Cohen whom she married August 20, 1976 and who died July 5, 2009 and her brother James Webster.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Natalie Hanson, pastor of the Christ First United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery.
Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday in the funeral home.
