Obituary of Nancy J. Wells
Nancy J. Wells, 68, of 3615 Nutt Road in Busti, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2012 in her home.
She was born October 16, 1943 in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Willis E. and Mary Richman Wells.
Nancy had been employed by Truck-Lite for 37 years, retiring in May of 2005, and more recently as a greeter at Walmart.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and belonged to the Altar and Rosary Society. Nancy also belonged to the Busti Fire Department Auxiliary and the Lakewood-Busti Golden Agers and volunteered at the Chautauqua County Humane Society and St. Susan Center.
Nancy showed her support for soldiers by cutting 100's of coupons each week through the Golden Agers.
Nancy loved animals, especially her dogs. Her poodle, Shy-Boy was a great comfort to her. She enjoyed country music, attending Jamboree in the Hills many times, and baseball, particularly the Jamestown Jammers. Nancy also loved travel and had been to many of the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii.
She is survived by a sister, Margaret 'Peg' (George) Rowley of Busti; a niece, Cathy (Kevin) Burch and nephew, George William 'Bill' Rowley, both of Jamestown; five grandnephews, Brandon Rowley, Cavan (Katrina), Spencer and Dalton Scalf, and Colton Rowley; and a great-grandniece, Lillyan Scalf.
She was preceded in death by her father in 2000 and mother in 2004.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Msgr. Joseph M. Dowdell will be celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home, where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 1:45 p.m.
