Obituary of Catherine B. Eger

Catherine B. "Cotty" Eger, 86, of the Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility, formerly of 18 Webster St. Lakewood, NY passed away at 8:20 p.m. Friday (August 3, 2012) in W.C.A. Hospital. She was born June 13, 1926 in Hudson, NY a daughter of the late Paul C. and Cecilia Dickson Fox. "Cotty" was a 1944 graduate of Albany High School and the Albany Business College in 1945. In earlier years she had worked as a personal secretary for Beneficial Finance Company in Albany, NY for several years. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a member of the Women's Club of Lakewood since 1973. She will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed gardening, doing crossword puzzles and counted cross stitch. She also was a volunteer at W.C.A. Hospital for several years where she took care of the gift cart. Surviving are her husband Jack L. Eger whom she married May 26, 1951 in Albany, NY, a daughter Lynne Eger (Paul) Anderson of Brentwood, TN, two grandchildren Courtney Anderson of Bowling Green, KY, Dalton Anderson of State College, PA and two brothers in laws, Robert Jewett of Canton, OH, Dean C. Eger, Jr. of Newbern, NC. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters Eileen C. Fox, Mary Fox Jewett. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. Msgr. Joseph M. Dowdell, pastor will be celebrant. Entombment will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery Tranquility Garden. Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home where a Christian Wake Service will be led by Rev. Dowdell at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday.
