Obituary of Willard Eastman
Willard Eastman, 82, formerly of 40 Sampson St., died Monday, August 6, 2012 at the Frewsburg Rest Home, where he had resided since 1996.
He was the husband of Irene Olson Eastman whom he married August 9, 1952.
Willard was born September 12, 1929 in Bjasta, Sweden, a son of the late Algot Eastman and Valborg Norlander Eastman Stokes, and came to the United States in 1948.
He had been employed as a tool and die maker by the former Dahlstrom Manufacturing Co. for 33 years, retiring in 1993, and belonged to the Machinist Union.
His memberships included the Vikings, Thule Lodge and the Moose.
An avid soccer player throughout the years, he played in several leagues locally, including Buffalo, Lackawanna and Rochester playing for the Buffalo Becks. He also enjoyed golf.
In addition to his wife of Frewsburg, surviving are two daughters, Anette (Stephen) Skidmore of Jamestown and Ann Christine Lockwood of McCall, ID; four grandchildren: Megerle (Michael) Morris of Henderson, NV, Kaitlin Skidmore of Jamestown, Erica (Jeremy) Patterson of Anaheim, CA and Matthew Lockwood of Olympia, WA; a sister, Maj-Lis (Arne) Hagglund of Jamestown and brother, Ulf Eastman of California; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father, Gust Stokes; a brother, Wills Eastman; and a son-in-law, William Lockwood.
A private family service will be held at a later date. Visitation will not be observed.
Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
