Obituary of Betty L. Fredo
Betty L. Fredo, 82, 178 Barrett Ave., died Thursday August 16, 2012, in WCA Hospital.
She was born December 19, 1929, in Mayville, NY, a daughter of the late Norman Cowen and Rose Lawson Cowen Stoneburg. She was employed by the former Super Duper and Quality Markets in the bakery.
She was a member of the Vikings. She was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and Derek Jeter and loved trading Yankee Baseball cards. She enjoyed country music and will be remembered for having "Willie Nelson Sundays" in her home. She will be remembered as a very thoughtful and kind person who would do anything for anybody. She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and sister. She will be deeply missed by her grandson Ryan with whom she had a special bond and relationship with. Her other interests include gardening, crossword puzzles, chicken wings and going to concerts. She also loved listening to Maroon 5, Willy Nelson, Rod Stewart and was a Curious George collector. She always keep track of when the first robin appeared in the spring. Surviving are three children: Julie (Dave) Shurilla of Lakewood, Susan (Dave) Mello of Seekonk,MA. and Kevin Fredo of Jamestown, four grandchildren Ryan Najuch, Stephanie, Aaron and Lexi Mello, great grandson Aiden Mello, a sister Linda (Dick) Joslyn of Jamestown, a brother Robert (Joyce) Cowen of Kanapolis, NC and a nephew Clay Joslyn. Besides her parents, she was preceded death by a stepfather Edward Stoneburg. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. Rev. Daniel Nagle will officiate. Friends will be received from 1-3 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
