Obituary of Barbara F. Carlson
Barbara F. Carlson, wife of Don A. Carlson, passed away at 11:30 p.m. Saturday (August 18, 2012) in W.C.A. Hospital.
Barb was born February 27, 1930 in Jamestown, NY the daughter of the late A. Joseph and Priscilla Armstrong Fairbank, Sr.
She was a 1947 graduate of Lakewood High School, a 1952 graduate of the Buffalo General Hospital School of Nursing and a 1976 graduate of University of Buffalo Geriatric Nurse Practitioner Program.
Before her retirement she was a nurse practitioner for the medical office of Dr. Wolf-Dieter Krahn. In earlier years she worked for Dr. Voltmann, Dr. Lester and in the surgery department of W.C.A. Hospital. Following her retirement she was the office clerk for Dr. Michael Johnson, DDS.
A lifelong resident of Chautauqua County, Barb was actively involved and supporter of the Jamestown Audubon Society.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Don A. Carlson whom she married July 1, 1953, her children: B. Gail Internicloa of Utica, NY, Jeffrey D. Carlson of Ashville, NY, Joseph A. Carlson of Oak Ridge, TN, nine grandchildren: Jason Price of Sonoma CA, Corinne Schmidt of Cato, NY, Kristen Baker of Waterville, NY, Matthew Price of Utica, NY, Capt. Andrew Carlson, USAF, of Okinawa, Japan, Lt. Ben Carlson, USN, of Lemoore Naval Air Station, Lemoore, CA, Casey Carlson of Ashville, NY, Lindsay Carlson of Nashville, TN, Sean Carlson of Los Angeles, CA, three great grandchildren: Logan and Leah Baker of Waterville, NY, Presley Price of Sonoma, CA and two sisters Jane Carlson of Webster, NY, Ruth Chiama of Stokesdale, NC.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a brother A. Joseph Fairbank, Jr. who died November 27, 2010.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will not be observed.
