Oh, in response to quniesots: Yes, Lindsay and I both moved up here, she works as a lifeguard at the pool.As for how long I'll stay.. Well, unless I lose my job or there is some kind of family emergency back home, it could be a few years. It seems there are dozens of reporters who come up here, gain a little experience and leave immediately afterwards; it's a revolving door of new grads.I also hear many stories of how tough journalism jobs can be down south, working in cubicles, competing against hundreds of applicants, earning low salaries, etc.) I mean how many journalism jobs provide free housing and a company car for travels?

I had the privilege of working with Jack. I, along with the others I work with, am very saddened by the news of his passing. In his line of work, you always have “salesman”. Jack was never a salesman. We always enjoyed his visits. He could put a smile on your face no matter how bad a day you were having. He had a knack for making you remember what was important. He was a friend that we trusted even to the point that we wished he were our family but that place was already taken. He would just beam when talking about his daughters and grandkids. I always made a point of asking him about them because I knew I could return that favor of a smile on his face like the one that he gave to all of us. Jack was a great man and I wish the world were made up of many more like him. If it were, the world would be a much better place. I’m sorry for your loss and hope that you can remember all of the good times. With Jack, I’m sure there were many.

Jack was my hero! I met him on a mission trip to Honduras many years ago and was inspired by how he worked as hard as the "young men" - eventhough he wasn't. He always had a smile and helping hand. He was one of the good guys - or probably a better description would be one of God's guys.

Men like Jack Henderson are very few and far between. He was a man that spent his whole life giving to others and wanting nothing in return. A great man that will be missed by many. RIP

Janet and Family,
There are no words to express the myriad of emotions and feelings that are with me at this time with the news of Jack's passing. I know he was a wonderful Husband, Father and Grandfather to all of you. For me He was always a great friend from the time I was still in school right up till now. Never questioned anything, he was just always there whenever needed. The world is a lesser place with this loss but the lives he touched will always be richer for knowing this fine MAN! Rest in Peace Jack, you were a Great Friend. Mike Holmes
