Obituary of Richard E. Nelson

Richard E. "Rick" Nelson, 68, of 58 High Acres, Bemus Point, died Wednesday September 26, 2012, in WCA Hospital. A native of Buffalo, he was born July 31, 1944, a son of the late Robert and Catherine Powers Nelson. He earned as associate's degree in accounting from Bryant and Stratton College. Rick was a veteran of the US Navy serving from 1963-67. He was employed by Herbert F. Darling Construction in Buffalo as a construction worker. He also worked as a bookkeeper for various companies in the Buffalo area. He was past president of the High Acres Mobile Home Owners Association. He will be remembered as a skilled woodworker who was always willing to help anyone. Surviving are his wife the former Mary "Ginny" Collins, whom he married May 24, 1966; two daughters Connie Nelson of Cheektowaga and Annie Nelson of South Buffalo a granddaughter Alicia Coleman of Bemus Point and a son in law Sam Julian of South Buffalo. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Robert Nelson and a sister Carol Hehir. Rick enjoyed camping and fishing with his family, loved going to his granddaughters sporting events, and coached one of her soccer teams. Rick will be sadly missed, always loved and never forgotten.
