Obituary of Clair O. Wood

Clair O. Wood, 84, formerly of Fluvanna Townline Road, died Monday October 8, 2012, in the home of his daughter in Williamsburg, VA. He was born June 2, 1928, in Jamestown, a son of the late Joseph and Hazel Chris Wood. Prior to his retirement he had been employed by Blackstone Corporation for 45 years as a tester. He was a member of Ellery Post 575 VFW and a 50 year member of War Vets Recreation. Surviving are three daughters Sue Colman of Yorktown, VA and Beth Ferrai and Kathy (Glen) Belvin, both of Williamsburg, VA; 11 grandchildren; six great grandchildren and a sister Margaret Holmes of Brocton, NY. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife the former Gladys Hetrick; 2 sons Daniel and David Wood; a daughter Jackie Ropps; a grandson Joseph Colman; 2 brothers Alvin and Arvid Wood and a sister Alice Wood. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. Rev Dayle F. Keefer will officiate. Burial will be in Fluvanna Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Fluvanna Volunteer Fire Department.
