Obituary of Evelyn Jean Piazza

Evelyn Jean Piazza, 72, of 3209 Fluvanna-Townline Road, passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2012 surrounded by her husband and five daughters at Select Specialty Hospital in Erie. A lifelong area resident, she was born April 2, 1940 in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Harold and Beulah Bull Anderson. She was a graduate of Jamestown High School and the Jamestown School of Nursing. Evelyn had been employed by the former Jamestown General Hospital and for many years by WCA Hospital. She had also done private duty nursing. Evelyn's pride and joy were her grandchildren and any time spent with them. She will be remembered for her wit, her love of laughter, and unselfish love for all of her friends and family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Frank J. Piazza; five daughters: Bonnie (Keith) Carlson of Jamestown, Carol (Richard) Sena of Ashville, Debbie (Tony) Martino of Scottsdale, AZ, Marcia (Jim) Piazza of Utica, OH, and Shelly (Terry) Piazza of Sinclairville; eleven grandchildren: Randy and Brian Gunnell, Maria, Luciana, Gina and Anna Sena, Lindsay and Kristan Martino, and Pierce, Quinton and Trey Piazza; and a sister, Alice (Tony) Russo of Gerry, NY. Evelyn also had a great love of animals, most especially for her canine friends Gizmo and Twix. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jeffrey A. Gunnell. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday in St. James Catholic Church. The Rev. Darrell G. Duffy will be celebrant. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home, where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Rd., Jamestown, NY 14701; or to Hospice of Chautauqua County, 20 W.
