Recalling his barbershope quartet participation, among other things, Donald was the younger brother of a good friend of mine at school names Richie. There was a decades difference in their ages, and Donald used to say that whereas Richie had a little brother, Donald didn't feel as if he had a big brother because Richie had already moved on. The Dennerlein's were a delightful family.

I'll always remember Uncle Donald as the adult who was able to change. As I child it seemed to me that all adults were unchanging and sort of stuck in one rut. Don didn't do that. He changed. That gave me hope that I didn't have to be stuck in a rut when I grew up. And, I haven't been - at least not too much! Thank you, Uncle Donald!

I knew Donald literally all of my life from playing with the neighborhood kids together to family holidays to college days to many many weekends of skiing in Vermont.
I am so glad I had a chance to visit Donald and Karen two years ago at their beautiful home of which he was so proud. I will never forget sitting in their kitchen and retelling all the old family stories together late into the night. Donald was just like another brother to me most of my life.
I am also glad Donald was lucky enough to find Karen and add her to his life.
Looking at his photo I can just hear his witty voice talking back at the photographer. I will miss my cousin Donald.

I remember Donald singing at the wonderful parties at my Uncle Jack & Aunt Dorothy's home in Valhalla & I also recall him on a homemade raft in a small pond there, having fun. Now he has joined the Dennerlein clan in heaven.

You are now an angel in Heaven with your brother, parents and many aunts, uncles and cousins. I fondly remember seeing you perform Barbershop Quartet shows - your performances are where my love of harmony stems. God Bless.
