Obituary of Luella M. Parks

Luella M. Parks, 82, of Tanglewood Manor, passed away peacefully in her sleep, on Monday Dec. 17, 2012 at Heritage Park. She was born February 6,1930, at home in Sinclairville, a daughter of the late Curtis and Louise Welms Southwick. Prior to her retirement she was employed with Valeo Engine Cooling for many years. Prior to Valeo her work history brought about many stories of good times. From her first job at the National Worsted Mill in Falconer, NY on to Celoron Park where she sold cotton candy, hot dogs, and sometimes filled in for the fortune teller this is where she met her late husband. She remembers fondly her time with Woolworth's as a window dresser and Murphy's working the blouse counter. Luella was known in the neighborhood where her children grew up as the "Kool Aid Mom". She was very loving and a caregiver to many. She would always have a home cooked meal on the table, and always enough just in case company showed up. Her home was the place that everyone went to for great food, a bottomless cup of coffee and some great conversation. Surviving are five children Margaret Etters, Stephen Parks, Debora Warner (Dan Mealy), and Christopher "Topper" Parks of Jamestown, NY and Mike (Jane) Parks of Stow, NY; 15 grandchildren Alicia Burch, Heather Lee, Amber Lombardo, Kenny Burch, Ranee Anthony, Nikole Cole, Stephen Parks, David Spunaugle, Christa Lanphere, Jeffrey Parks, Dale Parks, Angel Parks, Michael Parks, Eric Spontaneo, Haley Parks; many great grandchildren; a great great grandson; a brother John Southwick of Long Beach, Miss and a sister Clara Panebianco of Belleview, OH. She was preceded in death by her husband Dale Parks, whom she married August 19,1948 and who died October 10,1979; six brothers, John, Curtis, Ezra, Francis, Jason and Enos and 2 sisters Lillian Yocum and Dixie Conti. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald E. Ray will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday in the funeral home.
